A Day of Service Calls Through Central Nebraska
Early Morning Preparations
The day starts before sunrise at our Kearney headquarters. After grabbing my essential tools and checking the service schedule, I load up the company van with parts we’ll likely need for today’s calls.
First Call: Emergency Furnace Repair
6:30 AM – My first stop is in Gibbon, where a family woke up to a cold house. Winter in Nebraska doesn’t mess around, and neither do we when it comes to heating emergencies. After diagnosing the issue, I find a faulty ignitor that needs replacement. Within an hour, warm air is flowing again.
Mid-Morning Plumbing
9:00 AM – Heading to Grand Island for a scheduled plumbing repair. An older home needs some pipe replacements under the kitchen sink. These jobs require patience and precision, especially in established homes where pipes have seen decades of use.
Afternoon Electric Work
1:00 PM – The afternoon takes me to Minden for an electrical panel upgrade. Safety is always our top priority when working with electrical systems. These upgrades are crucial for homes running modern appliances and electronics.
Late Afternoon Service
3:30 PM – Final call of the day in Holdrege involves maintenance on a heating system. Preventive maintenance helps avoid those early morning emergency calls, and I always take time to explain to homeowners what they can do to keep their systems running efficiently.
End of Day
What I love most about this job is:
• Meeting different people across Central Nebraska
• Solving unique challenges each day
• Helping families stay comfortable and safe
• Being part of a team that values quality work
5:30 PM – Back at headquarters, I complete paperwork, restock the van, and prepare for tomorrow’s adventures serving our communities across Central Nebraska.
No two days are ever the same in this line of work, but that’s what makes it interesting. Whether it’s fixing a leak in Lexington or installing a new heater in Kearney, we’re always ready to help our neighbors stay comfortable and safe.
